The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines partnership as “a legal relation existing between two or more persons contractually associated as joint principals in a business.” Dictionary.com summarizes it as “the state or condition of being a partner; participation; association; joint interest.” But the definition we identify most with, is that of The Free Dictionary: “A relationship between individuals or groups that is characterized by mutual cooperation and responsibility, as for the achievement of a specified goal.”
At Affordable Bankruptcy Courses, we see ourselves involved in a very valuable partnership. Who with? You. You use our services to help you through the financial turmoil involved with filing for bankruptcy, and we are here to serve that purpose. We not only offer the required Credit Counseling and Debtor Education, but emotionally we invest ourselves heavily in each client. We want to see each individual find the light at the end of their financial tunnel, and see them off on their way to a brighter financial future. We care about each and every one of you.
This is why we have trouble identifying with the first two definitions above; they make our partnership seem one based solely on legal obligation, when that is not the case. We see ourselves leaning more towards the third definition, where we are establishing a relationship with our clients, in which we are mentally taking on some of their responsibilities when trying to help them complete their filing, with the shared common goals of debt relief, and a more positive future. To us, that is what a true partnership is all about: caring and sharing the burden. We would never cheapen our relationship with our clients by implying we are there for them purely as a ‘legal obligation’.
